An undisputed specialist in steel rolling and drawing, FORLAM group meets specific industrial needs which can’t be satisfied by standard products. Through the processing of stainless steel, carbon steel, special steels and titanium, the Group’s rolling mills and steelworks are able to offer custom solutions for the most demanding industries, such as rail and engineering.
To cement its place as European market leader in rail fishplates, FORLAM group has invested in Transalys, a company specialising in rail equipment distribution. This will form a strategic partnership that will enable the Group to offer a complete range of equipment to its customers including sole plates, railpads and tie systems, and enable it to position itself as a global supplier of solutions.
With this same ambition, the ALMAR joint venture was established in 2021. The collaboration between FORLAM and Austrian company Martin Schienentechnik has been created to develop and distribute a range of glue insulated joints for the rail sector.
For several years FORLAM group has been committed to reducing its environmental impact, including the implementation of environmentally responsible processes within the steelworks and rolling mills. Today, more than 50% of production is made from recycled steel from rail industry waste, such as railway tracks or worn out axle trees.
In the rolling operation, where development of bespoke products is needed, innovation is essential. This is why the Group wanted each production site to have an associated R&D department. Being directly on site, it allows for better communication between the industrial teams. This proximity is a major advantage, and ensures greater creativity and maximum reactivity.
